Welcome Julian, new Trainee Pump Engineer!

A fantastic new Trainee Engineer, Julian, joined the Edincare Engineering Team recently. In order to get to know Julian a bit better, we interviewed him and here’s what he had to say.

Why did you apply for an Engineering role at Edincare?

I applied for the Edincare position as I have been in the plumbing / pumps industry in South Africa for many years. I have always wanted to use my skills obtained through plumbing to start in a new profession. As soon as I saw this role, I really felt like I would fit in it very comfortably.

What did you do before joining Edincare?

I have been doing plumbing works for around ten years. Three of those I worked for a well known plumbing company, and then decided to follow my own path by opening my own plumbing company. We provided a range of services including installations of boilers, heat pumps, pressure pumps and submersible pumps, amongst other things.

What has been the best part of your time at Edincare to date?

The ability to learn from very experienced and extremely generous Pump Engineers, who are very happy to share their skills. Also, I am very appreciative of being given the opportunity to go independently to see customers as I am still a Trainee. I am grateful the trust has been given to me to carry out important tasks.

What has been something surprising about the job or the company?

What has surprised me from the first day is how accommodating Edincare has been. Understanding my situation in moving to the UK. Engineers being very informative on and off site. The office and management helping explain everything in detail and always offering extra support when needed.

Do you have any advice or tips for other people thinking of applying for a Trainee Engineer role?

The more you are able to put into the company the more you will be rewarded, noticed and appreciated. Edincare allows you to learn and build your skills if you are willing to take up the opportunity.
