Tony recently joined the Edincare Engineering Team. We asked him to take five minutes out, so we could ask him how’s been finding his first weeks.

Tony, welcome to the Team. Tell us what did you do before joining Edincare?

I worked for 28 years at the same company, where I worked my way up from yard hand to yard manager. When the company relocated to Nottingham, I didn’t go with them. I was working with large, submersible pumps mainly from Grundfos ranging from 0.37kw up to 37kw. These were installed into deep wells that the company drilled prior to install, so the experience is directly transferable to what I do here at Edincare.

What has been the best part of your time so far?

Learning new skills and gaining new knowledge of all the different types of equipment and jobs Edincare is involved with.

Has there been anything that has surprised you since joining?

I have been pleasantly surprised at how well the Edincare Engineers get on, which is really nice. Everybody is very approachable. Also, we’re really busy, and there’s a never a moment to get bored.

Lastly, do you have any advice to share to someone else who may be thinking about applying for a Pump Engineer role?

Be yourself. Try your best and be willing to learn new ways of doing certain jobs as everybody has there own different ideas.

Great advice. Thank you Tony, and thanks for taking the time out to talk to us.
