REQUIREMENT

We were asked to design and supply two pumping stations to separately remove foul and groundwater from a newly constructed residential basement. The units would need to be compact for installation inside the basement area.

In addition to providing the pumping stations, we were asked to advise the client of suitable battery backup options for the groundwater pumping station.

METHOD

A Magna900ProTwin (Vortex Model) was chosen and installed for pumping the foul water. The specified pumps had a 65mm solids clearance. A SumpFlushProTwin was chosen for the groundwater pumping station. Both systems were twin pump to ensure each station continued to function in the event of primary pump failure.

Following installation, our engineers commissioned and wet tested the systems prior to handover.

RESULT

•  Edincare provided the complete solution for the client’s requirements.
•  We deemed it best to pump the groundwater and foul water separately.
•  Both foul and groundwater pump stations are fully alarmed, providing early warning in case of a system failure.

FOCUS ON:

TWIN-PUMP SYSTEMS ENSURE AGAINST PRIMARY PUMP FAILURE

Twin-pump pumping stations are a sensible choice for any application where the cost of pump failure would be high. The secondary pump can take over should a fault be detected in the primary pump or the water level in the tank reaches a set level.

Secondary pumps can also function as an assist when inflow into a system may intermittently exceed the flow rate of the primary pump.
