REQUIREMENT

We were asked to specify, install and commission a pump set to remove surface water from a pre-cast concrete chamber in the basements for two new, luxury residential houses. The pumping station would be remotely monitored by a telemetric system within the control panel.

METHOD

• We carried out a site survey and specified chamber dimensions and access cover requirements.
• We monitored the construction of the concrete chamber below the basement level, during each phase of the build.
• Our engineers installed and commissioned the twin pump set.
• We provided a control panel which contained an SD1+ telemetric dialler so that, if there was any fault with the pump station, the control panel will call a list of keyholders and give a pre-recorded voice message

RESULT

• By directly liasing with the main contractor, we ensured the chamber was built to our requirements, for a simpler and more cost effective installation.
• Single phase pumps were specified so that should the end client wish to retrofit battery back up power at a later stage, it would be possible.
• Supplying a control panel with a pre-programmed telemetric dialler meant that once on site it only needed connecting to a standard phone line.
• The control panel can also connect to the owner’s BMS system should one be installed. This would enable monitoring from the concierge office or off-site. The control panel also has a battery backup high level alarm in case of power failure.

FOCUS ON:

THE SD1 DIALLER

The SD1+ sends pre-recorded voice messages over a conventional telephone line whenever external equipment triggers one of its four inputs. Any equipment that has a voltage-free contact as an output can provide an input to the unit. When connected to a telephone line the SD1+ behaves like another extension and does not affect the operation of any telephone or other equipment also connected to the line.
